Great is thy faithfulness

And ‘Hot is thy coffee.’ No, Christians don’t have to talk backwards like Yoda, or use out-of-date words like 17th century monks in the UK or the pilgrims used.

The exciting, new Open English Translation of the Bible (OET) is an attempt to translate the scriptures into the English that we speak now, to help Western churches address their massive failure to stay relevant to modern young people. It’s unique in having both a Readers’ Version and a Literal Version side-by-side to facilitate complete transparency of the translation process all the way back to the original manuscripts. And it’s open-licensed! (It’s still a way away from being finished, but it’s all being developed in full public view so you can get a sneak preview of some early drafts at https://OET.Bible.)

We need help

We need sponsors, prayer supporters, translation consultants, software & app developers, artists, a logo designer, and much more.

Do you know a retired Bible translator who wants to do something useful in their last years? We need a team to write book introductions and study notes, and to expand our database of Bible people and places. These helpful resources will all be free and open and available for others to translate them into their own languages.

Are you an expert in a specific field? Roman culture? Theology? Hinduism? Write a series of notes or an appendix for us. Textual criticism? Write a set of footnotes for our Literal Version. Your work will be openly published on GitHub and live on the internet even beyond your years.

Are you a developer? We use Python, Rust, and Flutter/Dart as well as HTML/CSS/JS. (The OET is a modern, hi-tech translation and every word is linked in the background to lexicon and data pages, etc.)
